Qizilbash forefathers: Sheikh Haydar and his father Sheikh Cuneyd

Cuneyd and Haydar were the ancestors of great Safavid Shah Ismail. Cuneyd founded the qizilbash doctrine when he flew to Anatolia, he accumulated massive political support from different Nomadic Turkmen tribes whom regularly fought with sunni Ottomans and ready to take sides who ever oppose ottoman sultanate openly. Some of these tribes were famous with their Karamanid, Aqqoyunid and Dulkadirid origins such as Rumlu, Tekeli, Dulkadirli, Turgutlu, Varsak etc. these fierce Turkmens served their new Sheikh Haydar after the death of Haydar’s father Cuneyd. Eventually Haydar got killed after a deceisive defeat and his dismembered body shown in public. Some rumors claim that his severed head thrown to the dogs which his son Ismail will keep in mind when he takes the throne as safavid shah.
