Köroğlu the hero of Turkmen uprising

Köroğlu was a fierce Turkmen rebel leader operating against Ottoman sultan and his vassals. Some of the stories depict Köroğlu as a servant of Qizilbash cause under the banner of Safavid shah Ismail. His main otherworldly supporters were Khizir and Ali ebu Talib whom are most prominent characters of Alevi-Qizilbash cosmology.
